Language is my trade.
What I do is simple. I translate. From English into Dutch, from Dutch into English. And I write. Both in Dutch and English. Words are fundamental - all is decided with words. With words you present yourself, your business, your view, your goal. Words accompany your (visual) work, your performance, your product, your ideas. Often words make the first acquaintance.
You might need less words than you think!
But from a to z they need to be the right ones.

News & views
This new year brings a new website. Not due to one of my new year's resolutions but out of sheer necessity. My previous site was kaput; it got hacked. After initial resentment of having to go through the hassle of organizing a new website, I have to say that a new approach also brings new energy and ideas. So, being hacked is not all bad.
Read of the month
A good read inspires better writing. This month Little Gods by Anna Richards. An overwhelming literary debut. Just read it and it will very likely top your favourites list as well. A book for people who are looking for a profound story drenched in adventure and metaphor, and for proof that kind-heartedness, a sense of humour and enormous strength of character can all, effortlessly, be united in one woman.

I am a world traveller with a knack for languages. Except for my 'home countries' Scotland and the Netherlands, I have stayed, learned, travelled and worked in many places in the world. My knowledge of the Dutch and English language is at native speaker level. Therefore I can go both ways at translating and writing. Obviously I have a passion for languages and I feel very fortunate to be able to do what I love for a living. And yes, I am also a bit bookish.
